Bowerbird Bazaar Profile

Katrina Freene

www.definitestyle.com/designers/katrinafreene/index.php

Katrina's work is a confluence of the two great loves in her life, jewellery and vintage treasure. Pieces are handmade, one of a kind and friends with the earth.

For Katrina, jewellery is history, it is complex and emotional, and speaks of a strong need to say something of ourselves. Katrina draws inspiration in childhood memories with the simplicity and wonderment of a world imagined through the eyes of a little girl. Her search for understanding manifests in the sheer joy Katrina finds in the constant quest for vintage treasure. Red stemmed sherry glasses like Nanna had, flying ducks on the wall, playing dress ups, climbing the wattle tree. To draw attention to familiar and discarded objects is to capture a piece of it forever, a piece of Katrina Freene forever.
