Hideyo

recycled materials, unique creations

We design and work together under the name hideyo. This was Maya’s mother’s name, who remains a creative and inspiring influence. It is a Japanese name that also alludes to the Japanese influence in much of our work.

Our fabric and paper creations use almost solely recycled and eco-friendly materials. We love the qualities of materials like old clothes and unwanted books that can only come with age. Along with the exciting process of recreating an item into something new, this also represents our commitment to a gentler impact on the unique Tasmanian environment and the world at large.

Origami flowers made out of paper using our designs and printed with vegetable-based inks on recycled paper, unisex satchels made with fabric that is 100% recycled plastic bottles and origami paper ornaments (christmas decorations) made from up-cycled books are just some of the products you will get to see at our stall.
