Very Jane

Playing a mix of acoustic originals that sit within the genres of roots, alt. country and contemporary bluegrass, Very Jane released their first album “The Songs Room” in 2008. Core members Jamie Blechynden and Victoria Jane are the perfect blend despite coming from opposite sides of the musical track.

With help from Steve Fleming (Double Bass & Fiddle) and Mark Elberg (Guitar & Mandolin) as well as various other local musicians, Very Jane are a regular fixture on the South Australian acoustic music scene.

With CD sales now well into the thousands and having performed live at many venues including radio stations, music events and festivals, their achievements to date include:

* Being in the top 100 of Three D Radio’s annual countdown for 2009.
* One of only three S.A. acts invited to perform at the 2010 Adelaide International Guitar Festival.
* Hosting one of The Barossa Valley’s premier music show s “The Candlelight Concert” series.
* Establishment of V.J. Entertainment – Barossa Valley’s own production, distribution and entertainment agency.

A Brief History:

Jamie Blechynden has a career that spans over 20 years in the Australian music industry. A one time lead vocalist of a metal band and the front man for the blues and rock band ‘The Grasscutters’ in the late 90’s, Jamie’s passion now lies within alt. country, bluegrass and roots and has come full circle from his somewhat loud beginnings. Jamie plays a variety of instruments for Very Jane including acoustic guitar, dobro, mandolin, lap steel & banjo; as well as vocals. Not only a talented musician with an affinity for the dobro, he is also an accomplished composer and producer for television programs & other recording artists.

Lead vocalist and acoustic guitarist Victoria Jane could be depicted as a vocal mesh of Sheryl Crow and Alison Krauss. With a style and harmony that could be best described as sweet, her voice is truly captivating. With roots in drama, jazz and rock, Victoria has been a fixture on the Barossa Music and Drama scene since the early 90’s. Victoria was lead singer for the band ‘After Hours’ and has lent her voice to a commercial radio jingle or two.
